Kristin Chenoweth appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Tuesday night where she performed a parody of her character Glinda’s song “Popular” from the Broadway musical Wicked. Chenoweth may not be the best candidate to give political advice, but maybe she picked up a couple of tips while playing a press-shy adviser to the president on The West Wing for 2 seasons.
Kristin starred in Wicked from October 2003 to July 2004. While playing Glinda she was nominated for a Tony in 2004 for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, but lost to her co-star Indina Menzel, who played Elphaba. Kristin was also nominated for the Drama Desk Award and the Drama League Award for the role. She left Wicked to play Annabeth Schott in The West Wing.
In the parody she gives Anthony Weiner some sound advice while running in the mayoral race. The lyrics ”I’ll teach you to zip your fly,/You won’t be that guy/With a camera down his pants.” Click here to listen to the full song: Kristin on Leno
