Katy Perry performing “Roar” in a boxing ring by the Brooklyn Bridge, Lady Gaga donning a bikini thong, Miley Cyrus’s foam finger, Taylor Swift’s dirty mouth, *N SYNC’s reunion…and a whole lot of Justin Timberlake. So what didn’t the MTV VMAs have last night?
Yes, some of them may be out of shape and they may have only been on stage for two minutes, but the *N SYNC boys are still smooth on their feet! The 90s boy band joined star of the night, Justin Timberlake on stage to perform “Girlfriend” and “Bye, Bye, Bye.” Not to mention Timberlake brought a whole new kind of Sexy back during his 16-minute long medley performance of solo hits that had every celeb at Barclay’s standing. The pop god walked away with four Moonman, including one for Best Video of the Year for “Mirrors” and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.
Miley Cyrus twerked the stage, oh we mean “took” the stage, to perform “We Can’t Stop.” Cyrus’s performance can be summed up with the words: giant teddy bears, tongue, and shocking. Things became more confusing when she joined Robin Thicke on stage to perform “Blurred Lines.” Miley stripped down to a bikini and grinded and rubbed her foam finger all over Robin…Just check out the Smith family’s reaction.
After the song, comedian Kevin Hart joked, “Miley better go get a pregnancy test after all that grinding.”
Lady Gaga made a comeback opening the show with her latest single, “Applause.” As usual, Gaga changed costumes a number of times during the song. For her last costume she flaunted her revived slim figure in a bikini top and thong. And yes, she remained in her bikini thong the whole night. Oh Gaga!
Taylor Swift sat next to bestie, Selena Gomez, both dressed in sophisticated and classy gowns. But what wasn’t so classy was Taylor’s mouth…she dissed ex-boyfriend, Harry Styles of One Direction, not once, but twice! When 1D took the stage to present an award, Taylor was caught mouthing “Shut the f*** up.” Swift took another jab at Styles during her acceptance speech for “I Knew You Were Trouble” winning Best Female Video, by saying, “I also want to thank the person who inspired this song, who knows exactly who he is, because I got one of these. Thank you so much!”
Ouch. Guess when Swift doesn’t have a pen and paper to jot down her boy troubles, things get ugly…
