After recent reports that record producer, Dr. Luke, would be joining American Idol as the 3rd judge, new information reveals the doc will not be sitting alongside Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez next season.
Apparently Dr. Luke has a “conflict of interest.” Turns out he signed a deal with Sony Music in 2011, so by working on American Idol, he would be raising talent for Universal Music Group, which is Sony’s competitor…Guess that’s showbiz for ya.
Dr. Luke also said the show would be too demanding of his time. A source says, “He really loves his artists and wants to build up the label.”
Luke has written and produced major hits such as “Since U Been Gone” for Kelly Clarkson and “Tik Tok” for Ke$ha.
Though we are losing a potential judge on American Idol, we are gaining talented advisor on another popular singing show. In this case, Ryan Tedder is joining Team Adam’s coaching staff for the 5th season of The Voice!
That’s right, after Christina Aguilera chose Ed Sheeran as an advisor to her team for the upcoming season, Adam Levine fired back with One Republic’s lead singer, Ryan Tedder. And boy is he a great choice to assist Adam’s contestants to help them make it through the Battle Rounds! Tedder is an artist, songwriter and producer who’s worked with J-Lo, Adele, One Direction, Kelly Clarkson and plenty more! Sounds good to us!
The Voice starts up again September 23rd, with the Battle Rounds kicking off October 14th.
