A true New Yorker knows the place to be on Labor Day weekend is the Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton, New York. Of course, ITM is there to get exclusive coverage.
Mary-Kate Olsen, Georgina Bloomberg, and Olympic medalist Joe Fargis, are just a few of the celebrities in attendance at the 38th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show.
Mary-Kate Olsen is the owner of the superstar horse Marvelous. Marvelous came in first place for the section B local hunter division. On opening day, August 25, James Anderson rode the horse to the win.
Mary-Kate got Marvelous in the spring of 2012 with an impressive USEF show record. Marvelous is an Oldenburg. The breed is known for their natural athletic ability as show-jumpers.
Mayor Bloomberg’s daughter, Georgina Bloomberg, is well known in the show jumping circuit. Bloomberg has been riding horse since she was four years old and has competed in everything from the pony hunter division to the Grand Prix.
Bloomberg has recently announced her pregnancy with fellow equestrian, Ramiro Quintana. She expressed that as long as her body allows her to she still wants to compete at the 2013 Hampton Classic. It’s unknown if Bloomberg is actually going to saddle up but she is listed on the Hampton Classic website under riders-bio’s.
Olympic gold medalist, Joe Fargis, judged all the leadline classes on opening day. In the leadline class for ages 2 to 4, Fargis awarded first place to rider Cady Ryan, who was riding Oasthill Ginseng. For the 5 to 7 aged class, Scarlett James riding Loafers Lodge Maestro- Scarlett won first place.
Fargis won his gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles for individual jumping.
