After getting great deals during Black Friday, Small-Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, it’s time to give back on Giving Tuesday.
In the midst of holiday season spending sprees, New York’s 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation have joined as partners to campaign to create a national day of giving.
You can log on to www.givingtuesday.org to find a charitable cause that speaks to you, and donate to them directly.
And you’ll be in good company. A number of celebrities are already involved in the campaign.
ITM recently blogged about Hugh Jackman and Jessica Alba participating in Giving Tuesday.
Hugh Jackman supports Laughing Man Coffee and Tea, a fair-trade coffee company with a unique charitable business structure, where 100% of its revenue goes back to supporting education, community development, and new businesses worldwide.
Jackman wrote in a blog post that sometimes we get caught up in the frenzy of holiday store-hopping.
“Now we have #GivingTuesday, a day in which we take a break from shopping for ourselves to give to those in need,” he said.
Jessica Alba’s company “The Honest Co.” is also continuing its mission to give back for Giving Tuesday. For every product purchased, they donate products, time, and money to their nonprofit partners. This year their partner is Baby2Baby, who supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential child-care items.
Actress Rosario Dawson tweeted her support for Giving Tuesday and Scenarios USA, an organization that gives middle school and high school students a safe place to tell their stories and talk about issues.
