It turns out that “Parks and Rec” star Aubrey Plaza has a very particular way of preparing for scenes.

ITM caught up with the actress and her writer-director boyfriend Jeff Baena at the Sundance premiere of their first collaboration, zombie-comedy “Life After Beth.”

And Plaza was quick to reveal how Baena helps her get ready to shoot.

“I yell at him,” she joked, in glorious deadpan. “And then I make him smack my butt before every take.”

“It’s amazing,” added Baena.

“It confuses everyone else and makes a really awkward vibe on set,” Plaza joked.

The ensemble comedy also stars Dane DeHaan, Molly Shannon, John C. Reilly, Cheryl Hines, and Matthew Gray Gubler. It centers around a man (DeHaan) whose girlfriend comes back from the dead.

Plaza was full of praise for her co-stars at the premiere.

“It was amazing. They are all wonderfully gifted actors, and they’re also hilarious,” she said. “That’s very rare.”

But Plaza is used to working with great casts. She told ITM how much she loves her job on “Parks and Recreation,” currently in its sixth season.

“It’s the best job ever, in the world. Amy Poehler is the best lead star of a TV show ever. She sets the tone for everyone and makes it so easy, and it’s a really collaborative and fun environment always.”
