Candlelit dinner? Blah. Cheesy movie? Meh. This Valentine’s Day, ITM has rounded-up the top creative dates in the city that you’ll actually want to go on!
Creative Date #1 – SHOW YOUR SWEET SIDE
Everybody loves cupcakes, so prove to your beau that you’re a real sweetheart and learn some serious baking skills at the Butter Lane bakery.
Creative Date #2 – TAKE AN ART CLASS
You don’t have to know a lot about art to show off your skills – sign up for a class at the Art Students League of New York and show your date just how creative you are. Plus, if the date doesn’t work out, at least you’ll still be taking something home.
Creative Date #3 – SCARE YOUR SWEETIE SILLY!
What better excuse to cop a feel than a little fear? Book a private walking tour around Manhattan and reimagine the city full of ghosts and ghouls. You and your S.O. will be inseparable afterward, even if it is because you’re just terrified to sleep alone…
Creative Date #4 – TAKE A TRIP BACK IN TIME
Did you know that admission to The Cloisters is actually included in your Met Museum entry? The Met’s oft-forgotten cousin, based up in Fort Tryon, has been celebrating its 75th anniversary. It features medieval European art and architecture, enclosing gardens that will send you back to a simpler time.
Creative Date #5 – SWEET SOUNDS FOR FREE!
Broke on V-Day? Head out to Brooklyn for “Free Fridays” at the Knitting Factory, where you can catch some indie music with the hipsters. Doors open at 11.55pm, but get there early for guaranteed entry. If the conversation with your date is lacking, at least the music will be too loud to worry about it.
