“Juno” star Ellen Page comes out!
During her speech at the Time to THRIVE conference benefitting LGBT youth, Page admitted, “I’m here today because I am gay and because maybe I can make a difference to help others have an easier and more hopeful time.”
The 26 year old went on to confess that she was “tired of lying by omission.”
Following the Oscar nominee’s speech celebs took to Twitter to show their support!
Some praise came from A-listers including Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Emile Hirsch, Mia Farrow, and one of ITM’s favorites, Anna Kendrick, who tweeted their massive encouragement!
The “Inception” actress even got a Valentine’s Day proposal from actress Kata Mara who tweeted, “Hey @EllenPage…Be my Valentine?” to which Page replied, “Yes please.”
So much love and support!
Another openly gay actress, Jane Lynch also commented on the brave announcement.
The “Glee” star said, “When I was younger, I lied by omission. She should give herself a break and not call it ‘lying’… but I know what it is to feel like you can’t be open and honest about your orientation. Good for her!”
ITM couldn’t agree more Jane, good for her!
Though Page is not the first person in Hollywood to come out as openly gay, there’s no doubt her courage will make a difference!
