The 2014 Academy Awards were filled with memorable moments including “12 Years a Slave” making history by winning best picture and the world’s best celebrity selfie.
Unfortunately for John Travolta, his Oscar flub is all anyone can talk about!
The “Pulp Fiction” actor was given the task of introducing singer Idina Menzel’s performance of her Oscar winning song, “Let It Go.”
Apparently Travolta didn’t take the time to get the somewhat difficult name memorized as he pronounced it “Adele Dazeem.”
Well, at that point the media frenzy began!
Social media websites erupted with responses from fellow celebs including Rosie O’Donnell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Mario Lopez. To top it off, a fictional Twitter page was made in honor of the now famous Adele Dazeem.
A few days after 43 million people saw the televised flop, Travolta decided to finally speak out.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the 60 year old said, “I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She’d say, let it go, let it go!”
Touché John! Very clever.
Fortunately, the “Let It Go” singer recognized the on stage stumble for the innocent mistake it was. According to a source, the Tony winner wasn’t bothered by it and even “found it funny.”
