“America’s Sweetheart,” Katie Couric is settling down and marrying her fiancé John Molner in the Hamptons this weekend.
Couric announced that she was getting married back in January at Howard Stern’s birthday party. When Stern asked if he was invited, she reportedly told him, “No, but to the party. [The wedding is] going to be family only.” Page Six reported that the veteran journalist will make it official at the East End ceremony with a 2 carat Jeffrey Rackover wedding band.
The two have been dating since 2012 and Molner proposed to her over Labor Day weekend last year. Couric confirmed the engagement on Twitter posting,’Yes! It’s true! So touched all the kind Tweets & warm wishes-thank you! A great end to the summer!!’
The groom-to-be is an executive at investment firm Brown Harriman and Co where he is head of Mergers & Acquisitions.
This will be the former Today Show host’s second marriage after her husband Jay Monahan died of colon cancer in 1998.
MYWW caught up with Couric at the Sundance Film Festival’s premiere of her film, “Fed Up.” She narrated the movie about the causes of obesity in America, presenting evidence that large quantities of sugar in food are an overlooked root of the epidemic.
