Lena Dunham is a very popular girl.
Dunham’s upcoming tour to promote her new book Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s “Learned,” is already selling out almost three months before it starts off. The tour kicks off at the Union Square Barnes and Noble in New York on September 30. Dunham announced the itinerary on Twitter on Tuesday, July 15.
The book, which the “Girls” star revealed back in February, is a collection of personal essays that express real-life experiences with love, life and work. Dunham received an advance of more than $3.5 million when signing the book deal with Random House.
“If I can take what I’ve learned in this life and make one treacherous relationship or degrading job easier for you, perhaps even prevent you from becoming temporarily vegan, then every misstep of mine will have been worthwhile,” Durham said. “This book contains stories about wonderful nights with terrible boys and terrible days with wonderful friends, about ambition and the two existential crises I had before the age of twenty.”
The 11 stop tour will feature “oodles of special guests” including writers, Mary Karr, Curtis Sittenfeld, Carrie Brownstein, “Girls” co-executive producer Jenni Konner, the band “Bleachers,” fronted by Dunham’s boyfriend Jack Antonoff and more.
Tickets for the Chicago and Brooklyn book signing sold out immediately. A second block of tickets for the Brooklyn event will be released on July 17 and fans for other sold-out events can audition for the opening act “Got Talent?” contest. The contest invites people to submit a video showing their skills at “singing, comedy, musical spoons, etc.” to be the opening act for Dunham on a number of stops.
The full list of events can be found on her website.
Dunham has been very busy recently. On top of her new book and working on “Girls,” she hosted “Saturday Night Live” in March and also starred in the film “Happy Christmas.’ She co-stars alongside Anna Kendrick, Melanie Lynskey, Joe Swanberg and Mark Webber. The improv-only film is about a girl named Jenny, played by Kendrick, moving in with her older brother Jeff and his wife Kelly. Jenny shakes up the home and is “very badly behaved.” Movies You Wanna Watch caught up with Kendrick and other stars at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
Be sure to tune in to Movies You Wanna Watch where you can see the Anna Kendrick interview on WE TV Thursdays @ 7:30 a.m. and on VVH-TV Saturdays @ 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. for exclusive movie coverage and interviews with your favorite celebs including: Amy Poehler, Kristin Wiig, Paul Rudd plus many more!
