Neil Patrick Harris finished up CBS’s Emmy Award-winning show “How I Met Your Mother” and is almost done on Broadway with gender-bending “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” so what comes next for the superstar actor? Is American Horror Story: Freak Show next?

Harris revealed on Entertainment Weekly Radio on Sirius XM that he wants to join the FX show “American Horror Story.” He told host Mario Correa that he wrote a letter to the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy.

“I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn’t even available to be in it. To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can’t wait!”

Murphy replied on Twitter on Friday, July 18 to extend the invite.

“@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you’d love,” he wrote.

“American Horror Story” has had other guest stars on the show in the past including Stevie Nicks, Danny Huston and Patti LuPone.

Most of last season’s cast will be back for the FX series including Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Gabourey Sidibe and Emma Roberts.

Harris has yet to confirm if he actually will join the show but he departs from the Broadway musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” on August 17.
