Wouldn’t it be nice if the Beach Boys could all just get along?
After years of fighting, it looks like the Beach Boys are at it again.
Recently, while on the road in Marbella, Spain for a show on July 23, the majority of the band checked into the Gran Hotel Conde Duque. Frontman Mike Love, however, stayed across town. While he insisted it was “to be closer to family members staying in the city,” the group’s history of fighting raises the question of a potential feud in the works.
After the band’s 50th reunion in 2012, Love controversially fired members David Marks, Al Jardine, and Brian Wilson and they were never able to bury the hatchet.
“I’m disappointed and can’t understand why [Love] doesn’t want to tour with Al, David and me,” Wilson told CNN in 2012. We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys.”
Remaining Beach Boy Bruce Johnston did not comment on any reunion with his former mates while touring in Spain.
Before their most recent tour kicked off, ITM caught up with a chummy Bruce Johnston and Mike Love who were singing each others praises when talking success.
“He has a Grammy for songwriting, I have nothing,” Love explained about fellow Beach Boy Bruce Johnston’s success. Johnston praised Love right back saying “Lucky me, I have a Grammy. He just has 39 more hits than I do, seriously.” Watch the full interview here!
