The former New York Giants gridiron-turned-television host, Michael Strahan, has called it quits with his fiancée of five years, Nicole Murphy.
Just one day before Strahan was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the two announced their split. With Murphy filming VH1′s “Hollywood Exes” in Los Angeles and Strahan hosting “Live! with Kelly and Michael” in New York City, the five year engagement crumbled under the pressures of work schedules and long distance.
As if that’s not enough, breaking up is hard to do when the couple has nine children between them! Murphy is a mother of five from a past marriage to comedian Eddie Murphy and Strahan has four kids with two ex-wives, Jean Muggli and Wanda Hutchins.
“They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule, it has been hard to maintain the relationship,” a Strahan rep revealed to People.
While Murphy may not be Strahan’s biggest fan at the moment, ITM recently caught up with someone who is. At OCFR’s Super Saturday 17, ITM host Gina Giordan asked Strahan’s co-host Kelly Ripa about what he brings to the show as the newest host. ”I will say that Michael is a better football player than Regis and I don’t think he’d get mad at me for saying that, ” Ripa joked. ”The show is the same no matter who’s hosting it, it’s just different dynamics.”
