Oscar winning actress Hilary Swank hit the 2014 Hamptons International Film Festival this weekend to promote her upcoming film, “The Homesman.”
The period piece, which takes place in the mid 1800’s, “deals with issues that we as women today, in 2014 are still dealing with,” the actress explained. She continued, “[the movie] is a feminist story about how women are objectified and trivialized.”
“The Homesman,” which co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, wasn’t the only film that had people buzzing. The “Million Dollar Baby” star’s most recently released movie, “You’re Not You” was also on everyone’s radar.
Co-starring Emmy Rossum and Josh Duhamel, “You’re Not You” takes a deep look into the life of Kate, played by Swank, who is diagnose with the terminal illness, ALS.
Swank told Movies You Wanna Watch host Gina Giodan, “This is a movie that I produced and to me is a beautiful love story, unromantic love story between two women and it was a passion project. From getting the rights to the book to seeing the adaptation through, to the casting, to getting the financing and to see it on the big screen and to raise awareness about ALS and a disease that we don’t know what causes it, we don’t know the first idea about how to cure it.”
